Prof Richard Harvey MD PhD

Richard currently works as a dedicated rhinologist (nose, sinus, allergy and endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery) at Macquarie University and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney. He is the program head of Rhinology & Skull Base Surgery at the Applied Medical Research Center of UNSW and is Professor at both the University of NSW and Macquarie University. After several years of post-training fellowships, including formal fellowships in the USA and UK, Richard practices in Sydney, Australia, as one of only a few dedicated rhinologists in the country. He has authored over 250 publications, books, book chapters and completed his PhD in trans-nasal skull base surgery. Richard has presented over 500 lectures and talks on sino-nasal disease management. He is the current Editor-in-chief of the Australian Journal of Otolaryngology as well as an associate editor for the Cochrane ENT disorders group currently. Richard contributes to the editorial board for Rhinology Journal, American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy and the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology and is actively involved in research programs in Sydney. Along with training surgeons in both developed and emerging countries, Richard runs a series of courses with Sydney every year to further rhinologic education and training in Australia.

Dr Julia Crawford MBBS FRACS

Dr Crawford is an Australian trained Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of New South Wales graduating in 2004. She was awarded her Fellowship in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2012. She is trained in all aspects of ear, nose and throat surgery and has undertaken further subspecialty training in head and neck cancer surgery, benign disorders of the head and neck, robotic surgery and the surgical management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. Dr Crawford is appointed as a conjoint lecturer at The University of New South Wales.

Dr Sean Flanagan MBBS FRACS

Dr Sean Flanagan is a dual fellowship trained ENT surgeon (otolaryngology, head and neck surgery), sub-specialising in diseases of the ear, tumours of the skull base and in surgical correction of hearing loss including cochlear implantion and bone anchored hearing aids, in children and adults. He is equally comfortable in the management of general adult and paediatric ENT disorders. He is currently a VMO at St Vincent’s Public and Private Hospitals as a member of the ENT, otology and skull base surgery department, and is a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales. He also has a public appointment at Sutherland and St George Hospitals, which allows the management of all cases in both the public and private medical systems. He is actively involved in training both local ENT registrars and international visiting fellows. He presents regularly to the public, patient groups, GPs and ENT trainees, as well as to local and international conferences, and coordinates clinical research into the management of vestibular schwannomas and outcomes in hearing loss and cochlear implantation.

Dr Timothy Matthews is an Australian, fellowship trained ENT surgeon (Otolaryngologist, head and neck surgeon). He completed an additional sub-specialized, post-training advanced ear surgery fellowship in Nova Scotia, Canada at Dalhousie University.  His clinical expertise includes the surgical techniques of endoscopic ear surgery and hearing device implantation (such as cochlear implantation). He specializes in management of all ear conditions affecting all ages including hearing loss, vestibular schwannomas, exostoses, cholesteatoma and tympanic membrane perforations.  Dr Matthews sees both general adult and pediatric ENT patients. He is currently a VMO at St Vincent’s Public and Private Hospitals as a member of the ENT, otology and skull base surgery department.  He is also involved in teaching of medical students, training surgeons and non-medical staff in his role as a conjoint senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales.
