Mouth Pain

There are a lot of different things that can cause mouth pain. Along with symptoms such as cold sores, jaw and mouth pain can be a symptom of stress. However any changes the mouth that persist should be reviewed.

What symptoms are worrying?

Worrying signs are things like an ulcer that does not heal, bleeding from the mouth, a loose tooth with associated bleeding or a socket that does not heal after a tooth is removed.

Who should you see?

Often the dentist is a great starting point for teeth issues. After this an ENT surgeon may need to see you to take a biopsy of the area in the mouth which looks unusual. This could sometimes be done at the time of the initial consultation but it may need to be done at a later time under a general anaesthetic.
